Southern Bride & Groom 2017 Magazine Cover

Earlier this year, Alexia's had the pleasure of participating in a styled photo shoot with a team of unbelievable vendors at the Merrimon Wynn House in downtown Raleigh.  The photos were for Southern Bride & Groom's 30th anniversary, and we are excited that one of our bridal gowns made the cover shot for the publication!

The "Pippa" gown featured in the magazine is a hand appliquéd Chantilly lace ball gown accented by crystals and silk organza flowers by Vera Wang.  We were also able to incorporate one of our beautiful Monique Lhuillier bridesmaids dresses.

The bride and groom featured in the shoot were actually not models, but a real couple.  We hope you enjoy the below images and look for more gorgeous dresses from our salon in the upcoming magazine!

Steph Diggs: Edgy Champagne brunch

Alexia's Bridal Boutique Real Bride 1

Stephanie first met her husband, Daniel, seven years ago. The two both work in the music and creative industry in Nashville focusing on photography, video, and film production. Stephanie has been playing the violin since she was six and loves the symphony, so it was only fitting that Daniel proposed to her under the downtown Nashville skyline prior to a Dvořák performance by the Nashville Symphony.

Since Stephanie lived in Nashville, she always thought that she would find her gown at one of the local boutiques, because her photography work had provided her the opportunity to shoot many weddings in the area. She first learned of Alexia's when she came across their Instagram page and had been following the boutique for some time. Stephanie decided to visit her Mom, who lives in the Triangle area, to inform her of the exciting engagement news. At the last minute, Stephanie decided to setup an appointment at Alexia's so that she could include her Mom in her gown shopping experience.

The bohemian, flowy style of wedding gowns is very popular in Nashville, so Stephanie originally started by trying on gown after gown in this theme. Her Mom, however, was not in complete agreement and thought the dresses just didn't suit Stephanie and her wedding. Stephanie's consultant worked hard to find a balance and realized that she was a “romantic, edgy” bride who needed something that balanced her personality, but was not too formal.

The “Tompkins Square” gown by Lela Rose was then selected for Stephanie, and she instantly realized it was “the one”. The dress is a fitted trumpet gown with an open illussion lace neckline and back. The look was complimented by a simple veil by Vera Wang that did not distract from the unqiue detail of the gown.

Stephanie and Daniel had an amazing champagne brunch wedding in the Spring with all of their loved friends and family; and at the end of their wedding, they drove off on Daniel's motorcycle!

Thank You For The Amazing Experience!

Alexia's Bridal Boutique Real Bride 1

It always brightens our day to hear from recent brides.  Below is a note and images that Abbie shared with us.  Doesn't she look amazing?  Congratulations Abbie!!!

""My first anniversary is quickly approaching, and I recently realized I haven't taken any time over the past year to thank you for the excellent service and experience in finding the gown of my dreams.

Prior to selecting the first gown I tried on at Alexia's, I visited numerous salons and tried on countless dresses.  I had been to every salon in Virginia Beach, where I reside.  I had also traveled to two salons in Richmond and three in the Washington, DC area.  None of the consultants understood what I was looking for, and I found those in DC to be rude.

My Mom and I were unsure if the three hour trip to Raleigh would be worth it, but I was running out of options.  Upon entering Alexia's, I immediately got excited.  The salon was beautiful!  My consultant was friendly and listened to my description of the perfect dress.  I wanted a modern dress with traditional elements.  Based on what my Mom and I told her, she selected a few gowns for me to try on.  When I walked into the dressing room, a gown immediately caught my eye.  I had to try it on.  The fabric was beautiful and unlike anything I had seen before.  It was exactly what I had been searching for.  I knew the moment I looked in the mirror, and could tell by the look on my Mom's face, that this was it.  My consultant paired the dress with a gorgeous belt, and we were sold.  What a moment!  I'll never forget it.

Fast forward to my wedding day, and all of the guests were in awe of my dress.  Some even took pictures to show their daughters.  It was a dream come true.  For me, the most important part of wedding planning was finding the perfect dress, and I am not easily satisfied.  I can't thank the staff at Alexia's enough for making my dream come true.  I wish I could put that gown on and wear it every day!""

A Bride's Journey: Sonia Nayak's Perfect Gown For White-Wedding Meets Indian Traditional

When our bride Sonia first came to us at Alexia’s she was feeling torn and flustered as she was trying to achieve both “white wedding” and Indian traditional with a twist. With a fiancé who is Ukrainian-American and a bride who is Indian-American, finding the perfect balance was proving to be a challenge. Well, we love a challenge!

Sonia went from torn to in love in only three gowns. When we dressed her in “Alice” by Vera Wang she knew it was the perfect gown – it even had the touch of nonconformity she identifies with being born and raised in New York City. Pour the Champagne! Celebration was needed! There really is nothing quite like the glow of a bride who knows she’s found “The One.”

Sonia has since told us that our girls immediately made her feel comfortable and secure. Unfortunately Sonia’s mother could not be there physically, so we used Face-Time to keep her there in spirit throughout the appointment.

Sonia was consistently sweet and wonderful to work with from day one. She has expressed that this was an amazing journey for her, even through the fitting process, which she described as being light and comfortable with consultants and a seamstress who were “superstars,” continuously making her feel confident in her choice! We feel honored to have been able to watch this dress transform into the perfect fit and look for Sonia on her special day.

When she dressed herself in her stunning gown on June 8, 2014, Sonia truly felt ready for the wedding and for her future marriage. She was completely comfortable in the gown the entire day, from ceremony and portraits to her lively reception, all the while receiving endless compliments, as she deserved to!

Having a bride who is so blissful, sweet, and excited for her marriage and future is an absolutely amazing experience. Thank you, Sonia! We are so truly happy to have helped you find your dream gown… you looked perfect!

Below are some more of the beautiful photos from Sonia and Mark’s White-Wedding-Meets-Indian-Traditional celebration in New York City, taken by the talented Joceleyn Voo of Aw Yeah Photo.
